What is Capoeira?

While technically a martial art, Capoeira is done to music and is rhythmically based. Our in-house programs are focused on the martial art, but if you would like to speak about the possibility of having a dance based workshop or program with your organization, we will work with you to make that happen.

Capoeira is a Brazilian martial art that combines elements of dance, acrobatics and music, and is sometimes referred to as a game. It was developed in Brazil mainly by African descendants with native Brazilian influences, probably beginning in the 16th century.

It is known for quick and complex moves, using mainly power, speed, and leverage for a wide variety of kicks, spins, and highly mobile techniques.

Capoeira Social Project (EIN: 26-2727728) is a registered tax-deductible non-profit organization under the IRS Section 501(c)(3) guidelines.  CSP offers programs throughout Maryland USA and in Belo Horizonte, MG Brazil.
