maculele
Maculelê is a type of folk dance from Bahia, with roots in Afro-Brazilian and indigenous cultures with its origin linked to sugarcane production and plantations.
Originally, maculelê was an armed martial art, which today is preserved in the simulation of a tribal fight using sticks as weapons, called grimas (esgrima), with which music in African (mostly Bantu), indigenous and Portuguese languages is used. In a greater degree of difficulty and daring, you can dance with machetes instead of sticks, which causes a beautiful visual effect by the sparks that come out with each blow. This Bahian dance later merged with other Brazilian cultural manifestations, such as capoeira and frevo.
