why volunteer in south america?
Or better yet, why volunteer in Brazil? Porque é muito legal!! Aside from the amazing self improvement aspects (language learning, cultural enrichment, physical activity) you will be providing these same opportunities for children in communities that are in great need.
Many South American countries still suffer from a plethora of political, social, and economic issues. Brazil is no different. Although Brazil is considered a strong emerging economy, TV coverage during the 2014 World Cup and 2016 Olympics put Brazil’s economic disparity on the front page. Belo Horizonte, lesser known than Rio or Sao Paulo, suffers from some of the same issues as these larger cities. [Belo Horizonte has roughly 3.5 million inhabitants.] Public schools in the poorer areas of the city suffer from inadequate infrastructure, lack of supplies, and a lack of extracurricular activities such as physical education and language learning.
While volunteering in Belo Horizonte, you will be given the opportunity to experience the Brazilian lifestyle from various angles. As a volunteer you will be a gringo, a teacher, a capoeirista, and a friend to the children you are helping as well as the neighborhood you are integrated into. Whether it be for a few weeks, months, or more, your time will be one of learning, enjoyment, and first hand experience of Brazilian culture.
Below are the current options for volunteers and internships.
If your are interested fill out an application and we will forward you the guidebook of how to get started on your journey.
